Financial education events

Close Wealth provides a suite of services to assist both employer and employee throughout their career.

The majority of events that we provide take place at employer premises but we do have conferencing facilities and so can offer these, if required.

Pre-retirement courses

Retirement events are most suited to employees who are planning to retire within 12 months. In our experience, if employees attend much before then, they will not derive as much benefit as they cannot truly focus on retirement as a real prospect and they will not have the information regarding their pension and other benefits which is central to some of the decisions they need to take.

Dedicated employer courses

We arrange pre-retirement events. These 1 or 2-day courses aim to meet both the practical and cultural needs of leavers. To ensure the aims of all delegates are met, the content of the course is initially designed with the employer. Formal evaluations are carried out after every course and regular review meetings are held to ensure continual improvements.

Open courses

Many employers find that they do not always have sufficient employees retiring in a 12-month period to justify a dedicated pre-retirement event, yet they still wish to provide formal training for their employees who are retiring.

To assist employers in this situation, for a number of years we have provided a programme of open pre-retirement courses throughout the UK. These events have all the qualities of an employer sponsored course but are open to employees from different companies.

Executive retirement courses

Many employers wish to deal with the retirement of their most senior executives differently. Therefore, over the last 15 years we have developed specialist pre-retirement courses that cater for the more complex and specialist needs that senior executives have. Like our open courses, these events bring together executives from many different employers in both the private and public sectors.

Redundancy support

When an individual is facing redundancy, whether voluntary or not, a prime concern is their short and long-term financial security. An individual requires unbiased advice on a range of financial issues from debt management, through early maturity of a share scheme to investment of any redundancy lump sum.

Close Wealth has many years of experience in supporting redundancy programmes through tailored services either working alone or in conjunction with an outplacement provider.

Mid-career services

Financial Education in the Workplace is increasingly promoted by employers to assist their employees in maximising the various financial benefits they receive. Our suite of services is designed to provide financial education to employees at a time relevant to them.

Executive counselling

We offer one-to-one counselling for senior employees either focussing on specific issues such as pension changes, or it could take the form of a general financial health check.

Close offer this service either as an option in a flexible benefits package or it can be funded separately, by the employer or the employee.

Share scheme planning

The use of share options and share purchase plans help retain, motivate and reward employees. As a result many employees now need a more comprehensive understanding of the relevant investment and tax issues.

Close can provide seminars, dedicated intranet links to our share scheme interactive tax modeller and a diversified corporate ISA.

Self Assessment tax service

With more complex rules as to who is now required to complete Self Assessment returns and with more Revenue investigations and harsher penalties and fines, more individuals are seeking help with their tax returns.

We provide a comprehensive service to assist individuals with their Self Assessment and other tax needs.

Finance seminars

Prior to individual advice, it is preferable to have a basic grounding in the various areas for which financial advice is needed. We provide a range of finance seminars for employees at key points in their career.

Bereavement in employment

Should an employee die before retirement, the partner will often turn to the employer for advice, particularly regarding benefits provided by the employer.

Close Wealth specialises in working with employers to provide the support needed by families in this situation.

Ill health retirement service

Finishing a career before a chosen retirement age because of ill health can be a very emotional and traumatic time. In addition decisions will need to be taken to help ensure a financially secure future. At Close we have been providing support to employees in these situations for many years.
